I do intend to support rFactor 2 however, it may not be in 3DSimED but in something new...

I cannot tell until I see how different it is and what the time scales are for the full release.

Cheers!

I bought your software few years ago but only sometimes I used it extensively and this is my fault... currently I'm using BTB,
I think we all know about the author's life and his last 2 years, so I would like to know if (only if you can speak about this argument) is your intention to pay attention to this specific matter, like an interaction between the export filter of BTB to rF1 and 3DSimED (or the new one as you said) to have it "translated" for rF2. In this way the porting to rF2 would be easier...

Thank you for the attention.

I do not really understand what you are asking. Is there a problem with 3DSimED and BTB?. All I was thinking of was adding some code to read and write rFactor 2 .GMT and .SCN files, at the moment.

Cheers!

Hi

I am thinking to buy 3dsimed. But it will not support the RF2 and will leave a new software is better to wait?

by the way the coreshares.mas is encrypted. :-(

Sorry Dave, I apologize for my poor Eng.
I said that:
1. currently (and since 2 years ago) the author of BTB rarely works on its development and he does no longer post into his forum
2. I do not see any solution to directly export from BTB to rF2

If you could take in mind this troubles, maybe you could be able to create a tool that can "filter" the export from BTB to rF1 to export the project straight to rF2. I don't know if it is possible, I'm only asking for it.

Otherwise the unique way to follow will be to export from BTB to rF1, then to convert the track to rF2 using your new tool or a new version of 3DSimED, is it correct?
Hope to has been intelligible this time!

If there is a new product, anyone who has purchased 3DSimED this year would pay nothing, unless the price for 3DSimED is reduced in which case I would tell customers that they might be better off waiting.

Yes, that encryption is quite a problem but I am hoping that was a mistake by ISI as there's little point in protecting shaders.

Cheers!

Oh I see, I really should have understood that from your previous message. I really doubt I will be able to do anything with the BTB output but I might include a direct converter for rf1 to rf2.

Cheers!

Sign me up too, Dave! I have been using your indispensable programs for several years (well before BTB) and I absolutely LOVE 3D SimED! I am anxious to support your efforts in any way possible including advance purchase and/or donation. Just let me know...

You are the MAN! :notworthy:

Best regards,
Gary

Dave it seems that the format is basically the same as in rF1
same files for physics, same .gen files for cars.. not sure about the tracks .scn
i know the big change is the addition of different material names and textures used on the cars
to start off.. a basic rF1 to rF2 gmt conversion would help tons, and speed up the process of getting started.
i have 3dsmax now, but it takes so long to go through the process to learn, and the program is so slow at loading a mesh.

Slim, are you saying max is slow to load a mesh?

I agree with mmorais, I dont think that was an accident by ISI. With the new GMT structure right now the only way to get them in game is with Max. When RF1 was released, the only way to get them in was with Max. Once people wrap their heads around the new gmt format Im sure we will see new tools floating around.

Even with Simed (I think), you wont be able to properly map the racegroove texture for real road to look right. Its not just tiled but its suppose to follow the fast path.

yes my 3dsmax takes a very long time to load a mesh..
not saying the puzzle of getting it to work, adding all the proper files needed to import a gmt.
that's just the tip of the iceberg for modding with Max..
it's not a simple program to use for beginners, 3Dsimed wasn't simple at 1st but a lot less complicated.

and i do not care about tracks at the moment, but i'm sure the track guys do.
just a basic gmt converter, you still can get the cars into rF2 by just converting the gmt's
but they will be rF1 looking, to get all the proper details on the cars, then you need to change the material names, and textures.
once i have a car in the game, i can start testing physics for that car, which i'm sure will take some time to sort out.
by then i'm sure a full version of Dave's new program could be ready to do what is needed to properly import cars and tracks into rF2.
