There are two different ways to do it;

1. If the objects are part of the same model or group

2. If both objects are from two different groups

1. If both objects are from the same group like a spectators and grandstands but you want to combine them together. First you

a. Isolate the object from the scene by selecting the spectators. then when the side edit box comes up use the isolation button and then isolate it.
when you get the object in the isolation screen DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT CENTER IT. By not centering it the object will keep its same coordinates that it had in the model. Now export model in the format you want. Make a new folder and export that model into it.

b. Now do the same for the second model and export it into the same folder as the other.

c. Now close out the whole present model. Now go to the file heading and click "import as objects". Go to the new folder that you put both objects into. select both models and hit open. Now you have both the spectators and the grandstand together as they were in the main model in the same location. now got to the menu bar across the top and hit "explode all objects". Hit yes. Now take you cursor and hold down the left key pad and draw a box around both. they will both be highlighted. then a small box will appear. select "copy faces" yes.

d. go to menu bar and hit "new" icon. a blank screen will appear. Hit edit tab. then "paste" both items will appear together with a name "3dsimedmodelsomething". They are now fused together. You can rename it and then export it with the textures to a new folder and there you have it.

2. For two model that are from seperate things. first you:

a. Isolate the first item but before you export it you want to "center it geometric center". after that then export it. then do the same for the second item. both to a new folder.

b. Import the main model that you want to attach the second model to. Right click on it and hit "memorize xyz". now go to the menu bar and hit
ADD Primitives. Go to the folder and add the second item. it will appear on top of the first item. now use click on it and bring up the side edit box. Use the "YAW, X, Y, Z positioning to place it the way you want onto the first item. Once you do that all you have to do is follow steps from "explode all objects" from above.

I hope that helps. copy this dialog into a text file and follow it when doing it and that will make it easier.
