re: AIW file: changing the outside path

In repairing an rFactor track AIW file, I am using the ISI AIW tool, and there is a button to "record fastpath" and a button to record "inside path" ......... but ........... how do you re-record a different "outside path" ............. as I don't see a button to do this????? ..... any ideas?????

The only way I have seen is to go to the "Show/Hide" menu, and select the outside line, then go and select the control points, and manually change them using the "ctrl" key plus the left and right arrows. If you select them all the way around the track you should be able to move the entire line, or just select sections to move certain areas.

Hi

I wanted to repair the AIW for Limerock, so I found this post, but doesn't help I'm affraid.
The problem is that the recorded main path is perfect (it seems), but like, 3 or 4 turns before getting back to the starting line, the inside and outside paths are completely messed up.
The game find those on it's own, right ? There's no way to correct them ?
It seems the outside line suddenly becomes the inside and vice & versa.

It's this track (great btw)

Any help welcome.

Bonsoir,

You can also text edit the values in the AIW files. By giving them 2 or 3m on each side of the std driving line you will later be able to edit them with AIW editor.

wp_width=(18.000,3.025,5.000,3.128) // road left, road right, far left, far right
wp_dwidth=(18.500,3.128,0.000,0.000) // collision left, collision right, cut left, cut right

or

wp_multipathlat=(-17.5665, 2.4084) // inside lat, outside lat (for multiline tracks...like ovals)

Never tried it but it should work !

Cheers !

Bonjour and thanks :)

But there are hundreds of such entries !
For that track they more look like
wp_width=(6.800,6.925,9.492,11.925)

About the answer given by J_Burroughs, I tried but I don't manage to do what he suggested.
So how do you "select the control points" ? (for those in / out lines)

Cheers

Bonjour,

Yes there are many entries but you can see which ones need adjustments whith the Show/hide menu and setting the waypoint index to true.

These values are from Sanair and had to be hand edited at some places.

To move the fast path, inside path or outside path you have to show only one of them (Show/Hide menu) and then select the std waypoints. When using the crtl+arrows the path will move but not the waypoints.

Cheers !
Gilles

When I was editing the AIW file for the TCR Raceway, I found it easyer to record the fast path then the "left path", and when I hit something like "find all coridoors", it automaticly set the inside and outside paths based on the pattern of the waypoints.

All clear now, sorry for the noob questions, and thanks for the answers :)
Now I gotta redo the AI for those JNS tracks, esp Homestead.
I did try a few times, but whatever I do the AI still seem to drive on the main path (not the fast one, I mean).

If someone wants to have a look, Ive upped it here :

It's not always perfect tho, depending on materials and such, I have often see little quirks that need tweaking. I always make Main Path, Pit Path, Pit extensions, Grids, and Garages, then find corridors. Then I do the Fast Line, then Left line.
