hi everyone,
My latest challenge is when i alter a road section of a track that i am updating. My problem is that when ever i isolate a road section of a track(corner) and i want to add a concrete patch on the road.I can add a texture to the isolated section easily, but when i place the track back to its postion on the circuit or track, the section never fits into its original place again after you move it. I seem to get a shift in the road so when the car drive over them, they ever go over with a big bumb or stop in going farther on the track.

Is there a way of altering a track section and putting the track back in its place perfectly!

PS.. Is that what the memory button on the 3dsimed option is for or are there other ways.

i hope i make sence in what i am saying here.

any help is appeiated

cheers mike :help:

ok after playing around with some of the options ,I think i have solved half the probrom by highlighting a track section by right-clicking on the section .Then click on "edit track _____.gmt When the box appears with the options i just click on the "explode" button .Then right-clicked on the part of the section of track which the triangle shape in magenta appears and i add texture to fill that shape. So how do i save this so i can see the change the next time i reload the track in 3dsimed!

Am i on the right track to change textures on a track section without moving the position of the track section!

cheers mike :hmmm:

If you are opening a rFactor/GTR2 scene then all objects will be positioned at 0,0,0 so Isolating should not move the vertices at all, so I cannot understand any shift.

After exploding and editing use Export->Save Model Data and overwrite the original .gmt. To see the modified .gmt just close the .scn and open again.

Cheers!

hi dave,
Its the road surface of a track that i am talking about! I tried what you said about saving the model data. The track09.gmt is the track section that im talking about. If i isolate this section then add texture to it (concrete patch)then update or save the model data and add it back to the track or scene, the cars drive down into the map or drop off into the hole where the section is where i just altered with 3dsimed . And when i go into game the cars can't finish doing a lap anymore.

I can isolate, add textures and save model data .but how do i get the cars to go over the section without them falling down in the ditch when in game

:hmmm:

Is there a way of altering a track section .gmt (road surface) by changing parts of the texture of the road surface. Without the cars dropping down the hole when you go into game and run them!

Sorry Dave I have this habit of pressing the "centre" button when i isolate gmt files .I guess with track sections you dont press the "centre" button or you will endup having the section over at the starting point of the track map instead of replacing the sections pinpoint xyz orginal spot.
