For the past 3 weeks I've been trying to tidy up and finish off my track, BTB EVO to GTL & Race 07, and found that each time I exported back from 3dsimEd to GTL the game wouldn't load. First things checked were SKYBOXI in the trk file and the replacement gmt's in trk and .gtl files. All present and correct.

From there, it was downhill until I thought it could be an error in the original track. So I stripped it back to just the road, testing it as I went, and eventually managed to import / export with just the road in game. I re-installed GTL 3 times during this period.

Very soon in rebuilding the terrain I had the same problem, mainly after placing primitives.

Back to BTB and built a very small test track. I could then reassure myself with each move that the .trk and .gtl files were OK and although the files were correct any primitives placed on the track as a separate object would crash the game loading. Sometimes if I made the primitive as part of an original object, of the track it would load. That is - open obj - add primitive exploded - export as model - replace original obj with that primitive.

Now I have,with just an import/export and no changes made by me, found that in export from 3dsimEd all the gmt's from the test track have been swapped for the gmt's of the track I was trying to finish in the first place.

No it is not at all clear, I am thorougly confused.

There are a number of reasons a track will not load, are you using the trace output of GTL?. Are you sure all the texture maps required are present?.

By default a primitive has no material so it needs _rgba.tga or are you assigning other materials to the primitive?.

If you import the modified GTL track into 3DSimED, do you get any reported problems if you use Tools->Data Reports->Missing Textures and Objects?

Thankyou Dave.
I was so sure that I had packed all textures into the relevant map.gtl that I didn't bother to check.
It seems at first glance that the problem was no textures in the right file.
Brilliant!!
