A tidbit of general news Posted Sunday 2:49 AM, February 4, 2001 by ErikF
If you haven't used Napster, you likely know someone who has. Well, Gnutella has been lurking in the background since last March, but now file sharing via the web may have just become a little more viable. Check out "Bearshare" here and this article on MSNBC for more info. This is of course off topic, until we start talking about the potential copyright nightmare such software may cause for software developers and music moguls alike.

Dale Earnhardt, "learning how to shift" Posted Saturday 11:41 AM, February 3, 2001 by ErikF
DE has an interview up at Autosport discussing the Rolex 24. Check it out here.

As a non-fan of the man in black, I have to include this quote: "When we first tested the car at Sebring back in November, we beat the car a little bit up, particularly the transmission. Now I'm learning about shifting with these cars."

20+ years behind the wheel and still learnin'! ::)

Houston, we have a problem.... Posted Monday 1:24 PM, January 29, 2001 by jkohl
This may be the wierdest request you ever see on the front page of The Pits, but one of our guys DOES have a problem. Stuart Brown, our resident test driver/racing ace, has come over to visit us from the UK. As luck would have it, his wisdom teeth have finally went over the top after he got here. Since he's from the UK (which has a national heath service), he has no insurance to get fixed over here. So if any of you all have any ideas that would A) prevent him from having to cut his vacation short and go back to the UK to get it fixed, or B) keep him from having to spend tons of money at normal dental rates, please jump to our feedback section and let us know...Stu will be (painfully) waiting...we're in Raleigh, NC. Oh, yes, and he's already tried numbing it with Jack Daniels... ;]

For the hardware lovers out there Posted Saturday 7:46 PM, January 27, 2001 by ErikF
A nice little summary from a GAME developer, namely Tim Sweeney who coded Unreal Tournament, detailing his thoughts on the Pentium 4. Check it out here. You do run your sims on hardware, don't you? ::)

Erik Frechette had the pleasure to interview Belinda Endress. Belinda is a GT driver who has competed in numerous forms of motorsport. Recently Belinda contested two full seasons in the ALMS' WGGT series, finishing 8th and 3rd overall. You can clip on the "On the Spot" tab at the top of the page or click here to read the interview. Enjoy!

Anderstorp for GPL released! Posted Friday 8:27 PM, January 26, 2001 by ErikF
Martin Granberg let us know that Anderstorp is now available for download.

"Anderstorp has the feel of an airfield circuit, is relatively flat and has wide open grassy runoff zones. It is a tight and twisty circuit but includes a 30m wide and 1km long straight which is also used as a runway. For a road circuit several of its corners are very banked. One peculiar thing about the track is that the Start/Finish line is not located near the pits."

Get it here.

N4 - Going Gold Soon ? Posted Friday 3:13 PM, January 26, 2001 by PA-Scott
I came across this at Gonegold.com:

"My thanks to Otto Szebeni, head of PR for Papyrus, who let me know that the highly anticipated Nascar 4 will go gold on January 31st if all goes according to plan. The game as of right this minute is not gold, but the company is 99.9% sure it will make the 01/31/01 date for sure. Lets keep our fingers crossed for them.

Of course, keep your eyes peeled right here for the most important news of all... when it hits store shelves!"
