I2N2GPL.EXE

This WIN95 program will convert tracks from ICR2/CART N2,N3 and NL
to GPL.

To convert make sure you have correctly set the directories for
CART/ICR2 (or N?) and GPL.
You should be entering the application directories
(e.g c:\sierra\nr1999 and c:\sierra\gpl and NOT the track directories).

If the source application directory is correctly set then you will see
a list of tracks to choose from.
There is an option to choose 16-bit sky/horizon. This will give
better results with conversions but at the expense of frame rates.

There is an option to choose to Keep Skid Marks. This is a matter
of taste but if you keep skid marks the frame rate may slow.

Select a track and hit the convert button.
You will get an error message if the incorrect GPL directory
has been set or you run out of disk space.

If the conversion is a success then the GPL season files are updated
and you should see the new tracks in GPL.

Known Problems

Note that some of the tracks have the pit wall removed this is because of
graphic problems in these sections of track caused by polygons laid
underneath the pit wall in the CART or Nascar version.

Some of the graphics look very stretched. This is due to complicated
compatibility problems with textures of all sorts of resolutions and
colour depths. GPL has its own restrictions on the type of textures
it can display correctly and this has lead to compromises in the texture
conversions.

Fixes 16-7-2000

Display of tree textures in software and D3D mode.

Finally

Many, many thanks to Alison Hine, Greger Huttu, Achim Trensz and Wolfgang
Woeger for all their help with this project. They all gave many hours
of time to test the tracks and I am very grateful for all their work!.
Greger also very kindly allowed me to include his
excellent camera files, so thank him for those great camera angles!.
