TPSCC Template Instructions

The TPSCC templates are built to 2048x2048 pixel resolution. This is referred to as "high res". For those with lower end systems, you may want to scale down to 1024x1024 (low res) for better performance. Low res results in better FPS but the cars will not look as nice.

These instruction assume you are familiar with layered templates and DDS file exports. Follow the rules below and you will have some nice looking stock cars :)

All 3 stock body versions are mapped on one template, so there is no need to paint multiple versions on separate templates and exporting multiple DDS files. Toggle the wire mesh layers to see which areas are used on the template for each body version. You can select the body you want in-game with the rFactor upgrades option and view you work in the spinner. When running on the official TPSCC tracks, the mod will automatically choose the correct body for you!

Do not move or delete any of the objects contained on the parts, trim, seams, nose details, grill, hood tethers, manufacturer's logos, headlights or taillights layers. You can change colors, but you should not turn them off. These are all bump mapped, and there would be a weird image showing up on the car if these features are not kept located in place.

The contingency and Goodyear logos can be changed to whatever you want. The generic layout on each car is mainly for positioning and sizing reference.

Keep the layers in their current order. You can add layers, but don't move any of the existing ones around.

The Highlight for Spec Map layer is an overall highlight for the top of the car. It can be turned off, but the opacity is set to what looks good on a neutral colored car. You can adjust the opacity accordingly for your colors. Same goes with the other highlight and shading layers.

The Alpha Channel Base layer is only to be used for creating new alpha and spec maps. However, you DO NOT have to do this. There is an alpha channel included in these templates and it works with the spec map included in your mod install. This layer is only to be used by people who want or need to make custom templates and/or maps.

Once your paint is complete, flatten all layers and save the file as a DDS including the alpha channel in DXT5 format.

Have fun!
