Each car must must be registered with two drivers. Three drivers are optional, but no more than 3 drivers. Teams can only enter three cars. Please note that drivers who sign up must have names for at least two of the drivers, a registration will be disregarded if only a single driver signs up with a co-driver listed as "to be announced" or unknown. Once registration has closed there are no changes to teams, drivers, cars or class allowed without specific notification to the race administrator(s). Registrants must submit this information to the race administrator to compete:
  • Driver names (all drivers) and Location (city, country)
  • Team name
  • Car number (first come, first serve)
  • Car manufacturer and model
  • If both drivers will be competing from the same physical location

Drivers must sign up on the Official Bullrun 1000 Forums. This is mandantory because all discussion as well as official notices will be posted in the forums, and while rules will be here on the main Bullrun 1000 site, last minute notices pertaining to the races and race schedules will be posted there. Posts from the race administrator with "BR1000 Official" in the title should always be read.

How to run the Bullrun 1000

    1. Download all the required files and insure your information on the website is correct. Insure you have the ISI 1255 patch installed.
    2. Install NAGT v1.6. Remember that this race will run into evening, so headlights (which cause low framerates) will be required.
    3. Install the Bullrun track
    4. Select NAGT from your mod selection screen in rFactor
    5. Create a new car with your specific paintscheme and team and driver info. If you have been racing with another series that uses the "NAGT" class, please revert to the specific vehicle class (Mustang, Corvette, etc).
    6. Submit the team to the Bullrun 1000 Forums.

    Qualifying to make the Race

Here is the full information concerning the Qualifying for the 2008 Bullrun 1000, not to be confused with grid qualifying, which will occur on the day of the race. This is to actually get INTO the Bullrun 1000.

You MUST qualify to race. Anyone who has not qualified by the deadline will not be allowed to race, no exceptions. If the field is not full, then the teams can submit requests for exceptions.

Please look at the qualifying schedule. Qualifying will be done in 30 minute closed sessions and private qualifying (cannot see the other cars on track), with 20 minutes allowed for actual attempts. Sessions will be closed, if you do not show up on your scheduled time, you will have to qualify on the 2nd day. If you miss that, you will be out. Teams who fail to qualify *two* drivers by the deadline will not be scored. Teams who have three drivers but one doesn't show will now become two-driver teams.

    Grid Qualifying

Grid qualifying will occur on the day of the race. This will be a 10 minute open session (all cars on the track), and will be for your actual position on the grid. Note that these rules apply to the Grid Qualifying.

  • No talking
  • Give way to cars already on track when exiting the pits. Do NOT attempt to block or race other cars on your outlap (before your first timed lap).

    Team Racing

The team drivers will need to make smooth transitions, as they will actually be swapping out during pitstops. First, both drivers need to decide on a means of communication (phone, voice-over-IP). Next, they need to decide on a strategy for when they will swap out. They MUST swap at least once during the race; no driver can drive more than 70% of the race (120 laps) total. Please note that this WILL be checked by replay, failure to disconnect fully from the server will be penalized a full lap per incident.

The race will utilize indivdual setups. Refer to the Driver Swap Guide about how to properly implement individual setups.

Here is how the swapouts will occur. Read the Driver Swap Guide for how to do 'pit swaps' (download above). The guide explains exactly how to do pit swaps for the BR1000. Be familiar with the guide and insure ALL teammates get to test the swap function.

Drivers racing from the same physical location only need to vacate their seat and let the other driver sit down to do the swap.

Spectators (who will become the next driver) should enter the race on the lap that the driver is going to pit. They should NEVER ride with the driver during any of the rest of the race to keep server bandwidth to a minimum. The driver must have enough time to give the new driver the fuel, and select the new driver from the HUD before hitting the pit stall. As soon as the swap is made, the ex-driver should hit his key to no longer ride in the vehicle, and then exit the track immediately...again, to make sure that server bandwidth is not overloaded with non-essential race personnel.

    Quick Detail:

    1. Driver 1 in car on track
    2. Driver 2 enters race as spectator
    3. Driver 2 selects team car, then clicks on button enter the car and clicks "Race"
    4. Driver 1 sets fuel for Driver 2, then selects Driver 2 from HUD
    5. Driver 1 enters pit road and then hits pit stall, swapout occurs

    Race Conduct

  • Two tires must remain on the track *racing surface* at all times. Mistakes will happen and cause you to go off track, but continual and/or intentional shortcuts are not allowed. Curbs are allowed to be part of the track.
  • During qualifying, if you are just coming out of the pits (and into traffic already on the track), you need to GIVE WAY to other cars while you are on your outlap. You need to be aware when you come out on track if you've come out in front of another car or two, and give them the corners until you are getting on your timed lap. You don't need to slam on your brakes...just a simple letting off the gas early and going high will allow them to get by you. Once you're heading into All-or-Nothing, you're more than welcome to keep your foot in it.
  • Intentional ramming, punting, or pushing other cars off-track are not allowed. Again, mistakes will happen, but if an incident is deemed to be intentional or just plain idiocy, that driver will recieve a 2 lap penalty per incident. Drivers should not block other cars unless within the last 10 laps of the race and you are racing for position. Overzealous blocking (moving from one side of the track to the other) more than 2 times in a lap can be penalized, even in the last 10 laps.
  • Drivers who receive heavy damage due to a crash and are unable to safely maintain race speed MUST stay off the racing surface, (unless the snow track is being used, whereupon they must stay to the far right hand side of the track). There are considerable exits to the outside of the track, as well as grass areas. Drivers should NEVER be on the racing surface if heavily damaged, except to cross the track, and then they should keep an eye on traffic coming up on them, wait for an opening, and cross as quickly as possible. If you spin or crash, NEVER pull out onto the racing surface in front of racing cars, wait for a hole to open before pulling back onto the track.
  • Cursing or flaming the race admin or other drivers will not be tolerated, and will be cause for immediate expulsion from the race. If you feel that another driver caused an incident that you are unhappy with, notify the Race Admin in whisper mode. They will review it and may possibly level a penalty.
  • When coming to the green flag on a rolling start, do NOT enter the pits if you are on track, for any reason. You will cause drivers behind you to get black flags. Only pit after the first lap, where nobody will be caught by passing you on the track.

    Communications

  • During qualifying, no chatting is allowed at all. Respect your other drivers attempts to qualify.
  • During the race: Drivers/spectators should not do any communication at all during the race that can be seen by other drivers...in other words, if you need to tell your driver how much fuel to put in, do it with the 'whisper' function
    Example:
/w (driver name) Give me 14 gallons
No other communications are needed during the race. You can text "sorry" or "thanks" to a driver if you wish, but you do NOT need to signal entering or exiting pit road as in previous years.

    The Race

This is a long race, so be prepared. It will be a total of about 5.5 hours, the only break that anyone gets is in the pits! The settings for the races will be:
Race Start - 12:30 pm Eastern (qualifying)
    Laps - 165
Qualifying - 10 minutes, open laps
Type of start - Fast Rolling
    Flag Rules - Black Only
    Auto pit lane - yes
    Pit speed - 48 mph
    Fixed setups - no
    Time scale - normal
    Damage multiplier - 100%
    Tires & Fuel - normal
    Mechanical failures - normal
    Driver's aids - auto-clutch only

There will be a race administrator overseeing the entire race. The race admin will be easily identifiable as the driver 'Race Admin'. Any questions, concerns or complaints should be directed to the race admin. The race admin will be overseeing everything from problems with the server to incidents on track, so be patient as they may be dealing with multiple problems. During the race, the Race Admin is the ultimate authority...anything he instructs you to do (or not do) should be complied with immediately, without any griping or complaining. Overall, the Race Admin will be lenient on allowing everyone to race, but any flaming or cursing the admin will result in immediate expulsion.

If the server completely fails and kicks out all drivers before lap 20, the race will be restarted from lap zero. If the server fails completely after lap 20, the race will be restarted with the approximate laps left at the point that it failed, and all attempts to get the cars in the proper order before the crash will be made. Obviously, since if the server crashes we may have no records, it may not be completely accurate and drivers will be positioned by the race admin. All decisions for position by the race admin are final. Cars that have already crashed out of the race or had a mechanical failure after lap 20 will not be allowed to restart on a server crash.

    Be Prepared

Be prepared, do some testing to work out the team strategy. How many laps are we going to run between each pit stop? Don't leave any questions until the last minute. If you're not sure about anything post a message to the Official Bullrun 1000 forums.
